We have bed & breakfast (27 euros),three rooms cater for 10 person maximum - so you will enjoy our peaceful atmosphere. Sauna by the lake is only 100 meters away.
You can also stay in cottages, one beside lake with own sauna and other at house yard.
Hobbies
While your stay you can use rowing boat, canue, fire hut, fishing equipment and bicycles. You can also make trips to several different wildlife protection areas in the nearby and learn bow shooting! You are also welcome to be with at activities of living farm. Have you ever seen how bees are taken care of? During autumn evenings fishing with light, box and javelin are an exprerience not to forget!
In the nearby you can find also tennis, 10 km (also courses), riding, 30 km and golf 40 km. Archery is the speciality of the house!
Opening times
You are always welcome to Ruohtula! We are ready for you from May 1 to September 30, outside that time we hope that you call and reserve in advance.
Traditional Finnish food
We are allways catering with traditional Finnish style.
If you are travelling on a group we can offer you traditional Finnish meals and refreshments even if you are just visiting us during the day - plase call well in advance.
Location and driving directions
54 km south from Jyväskylä, 130 km north from Lahti, 230 km north from Helsinki. 20 km north-east from highway E4.
From Jyväskylä
From Jyväskylä drive 27 km towards Jämsä and Tampere by road number 9. Turn left to road 610 (Joutsa / Luhanka). Drive 27 km towards Joutsa and you will have grossing to Luhanka (to the right). Stay on the road to Joutsa and continue about 400 m. You will see Bed and Breakfast signs at your left.
From Lahti
From Lahti towards Joutsa by road number 4. From Joutsa continue towards Jyväskylä still on road number 4. 5 kilometers after Joutsa turn left to Luhanka to road 610. From here it is 19,4 km to Ruohtula. Continue about 18 kilometres and you have outdoor museum Mäkitupalaismuseo on the right. Continue 1 km and you have Ruohtula Bed & Breakfast sign on the right.
Scenic road from Lahti
From Lahti take road 24 towards Vääksy and Jämsä (If you came from Helsinki direction and want to pass Lahti, then you will find this junction to Vääksy and Jämsä some kilometeres after junction to Lahti). At Vääksy turn to road 314 towards Sysmä. Drive to Sysmä. From Sysmä take road 614 to Luhanka. Pass Luhanka community center crossing without turning. Continue 10 km. Road ends at Tammijärvi. Take right towards Joutsa on road 610. Drive about 400 m and you have Ruohtula Bed and Breakfast sigh on your left.
